Below you’ll find details about getting to Nantucket and where to stay once you’re there.

 

Nantucket Island - by ferry or by plane.

Both ferry lines that service Nantucket are located in Hyannis, MA on Cape Cod.

Steamship Authority (69 South Street) offers the Traditional Ferry (2 hr 15 min voyage) & the High Speed Ferry (1 hr voyage). **Please note that if you plan on bringing a car from off island, you’ll need to make a reservation for the Traditional Ferry**

Hy-Line Cruises (220 Ocean Street) offers the High Speed Ferry (1 hr voyage).

Please note, these ferry’s have different schedules - if you’re traveling from Los Angeles, reference all schedules to see which ferry best suits your travel plans (recommendations below).

If you choose to fly, you’ll do so from Boston Logan (BOS) to Nantucket Memorial (ACK) via Cape Air.

 

Getting to Nantucket from Los Angeles

 

Red Eye Travel

Although not for everyone, we generally take the red eye as the first leg of our journey to Nantucket. Example itinerary below:

  • Depart LAX @ 10:55pm PST

  • Arrive BOS @ 7:18am EST

  • Blue Nile Car Service from BOS to Hyannis, MA @ 8:00am (1 hr 30 min drive with no traffic)

    • Blue Nile is extending a discount for us, just mention the Ogiens - Lawson party when you call

    • Car rental & Lyft/Uber are also options

    • If you’re driving to Hyannis, reservations can be made to bring your car on the Steamship Authority Traditional Ferry (not available on the High Speed Ferry or Hy-Line Cruises Ferry)

  • Arrive @ Steamship Authority in Hyannis, MA @ 9:30am

  • Depart Hyannis, MA @ 11am (High Speed Ferry)

  • Arrive @ Nantucket in time for lunch

Same Day Travel

In order to travel from Los Angeles to Nantucket in the same day, it will require an early morning flight (no later than 8am). Example itinerary below:

  • Depart LAX @ 7am PST

  • Arrive BOS @ 3:41pm EST

  • Blue Nile Car Service from BOS to Hyannis, MA @ 4:30pm (1 hr 30 min drive with no traffic)

    • Blue Nile is extending a discount for us, just mention the Ogiens - Lawson party when you call

    • Car rental & Lyft/Uber are also options

    • If you’re driving to Hyannis, reservations can be made to bring your car on the Steamship Authority Traditional Ferry (not available on the High Speed Ferry or Hy-Line Cruises Ferry)

    • This may be a good time to grab a bite to eat - there is no food at the Steamship Authority terminal and by the time you arrive in Nantucket, all restaurants will likely be closed

  • Arrive @ Steamship Authority in Hyannis, MA @ 6pm

  • Depart Hyannis, MA @ 8pm (Last ferry of the day - Traditional Ferry)

  • Arrive @ Nantucket @ 10:15pm

Plane Travel

In order to travel from Los Angeles to Nantucket by plane only, you will fly from LAX to BOS, and BOS to ACK via Cape Air.
